Event Report: SRE Bengaluru May Meetup

Event Report: SRE Bengaluru May Meetup

On 26th May, we hosted the May edition of the SRE Bengaluru Meetup at the nference office. The event was attended by around 40 people.

The meetup started with Pravar, co-organizer of the SRE BLR meetup, introducing the meetup and introducing all attendees. Following that, Vishy from the nference team set the context for the meetup; he talked about the challenges the nference team faces in managing the EMR data in a regulated environment and how their SRE and DevOps team is tackling it. We had two talks on the agenda.

The first talk was from Kailash from nference on how they built an in-house tool to access remote infra and services in data and privacy-sensitive based on Apache Guacamole. He touched upon various aspects, from security to authentication and multi-cloud operability.

The second talk was from Divyansh from Gojek on getting started with Kubernetes Operators. Divyansh provided an excellent overview of concepts from the Kubernetes world and built an operator during the live demo. Here are the slides.

The talks were followed by a fantastic networking session. The nference team had graciously arranged Pizza for everyone. We also got cool swag from nference and Last9 :)

We thank the speakers, attendees and the nference team for hosting us and providing a platform for fellow SREs to gather together. We are planning for the June meetup and will share an update shortly.
